Outstanding SME Loans by Domestic Banks as of December 2023

The Financial Supervisory Commission has released that the loans extended to SMEs by domestic banks amounted to NT$9,766.4billion by the end of December 2023. The amount increased by NT$483 billion as compared to the amount at the end of December 2022, achieving 127% of the annual growth target of NT$380 billion for 2023. It would indicate shows that Program to assist SMEs in obtaining financing have been quite effective.
Up until the end of December 2023, the loans extended to SMEs by domestic banks accounted for 65.21% and 69.26% of total loans extended to total enterprises and private enterprises respectively, increased by 0.06 and 0.31 percentage points respectively as compared to the end of November 2023. In December 2023, the average NPL ratio of the SME loans was 0.22% and the ratio is decreased by 0.02 compared to the end of November 2023.
To help SMEs obtain working capital, in 2024 the Financial Supervisory Commission will implement the "Program to Encourage Lending by Domestic Banks to Small and Medium Enterprises (nineteenth stage)" continuously. In order to encourage domestic banks to promote SME loans with risk control and management in place. The FSC will endeavor to foster a favorable banking environment for Small and medium enterprises.
