Small Amount Remittance Services for Foreign Migrant Workers Continue Throughout Long Lunar New Year Holidays

2024-02-08
The lunar new year holidays this year are seven days long but foreign migrant workers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand in Taiwan can still use the remittance app services provided by foreign migrant worker remittance companies to transfer their wages from Taiwan to their home countries. All remittance services will remain available and unaffected by the holidays.
The three foreign migrant worker remittance companies (Welldone Company, Eastern Union Interactive Corp., and Digital Idea Multi-Media Co., Ltd.) approved by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) provide remittance services with a mobile app available in different languages, allow foreign migrant workers to complete payment in a variety of channels such as convenience stores or ATMs and assign dedicated online customer service personnel fluent in the mother languages of foreign migrant workers to help them resolve issues. Small amount remittance services for foreign migrant workers resolve transportation, work, language barrier, and time-related difficulties, while also reducing the cost of transferring funds across borders.
In addition, when a consumer dispute arises in connection with services offered by a foreign migrant worker remittance company, apart from filing a complaint to the company first, the foreign migrant worker also has the alternative dispute resolution scheme provided by the “Financial Consumer Protection Act.” This means that foreign migrant workers can file a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Institution (FOI). For more details, visit the FOI’s website at: https://www.foi.org.tw/Article.aspx?Lang=1&Arti=8452.
The FSC will continue to instruct institutions under its supervision and management to provide foreign migrant workers with convenient, rapid, legal, and friendly financial services, thereby realizing financial inclusion.
