Statistics of Credit Card & Cash Card & Electronic Stored Value Cards & Electronic Payment Institutions Business Operation as of January 2019

1. Credit Card:
As of January 2019, thirty-four credit card issuing institutions were in operation in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 44.11 million (44.03 million at the end of December 2018) among which the total active cards numbered in 29.76 million (29.57 million at the end of December 2018). The balance of revolving credit was NT$113.7 billion (NT$113.9 billion at the end of December 2018). The amount of undue balance of installment was approximately NT$123.9 billion (NT$119.5 billion at the end of December 2018). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$291.3 billion that increased by NT$49.1 billion as compared to NT$242.2 billion of December 2018. The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.4 billion (NT$0.38 billion for December 2018). Average ratio of delinquency credit (pass-due over three months) against account receivables (including non-accrual amounts) was 0.2% (0.22% at the end of December 2018) (Please see Attachment 1).
2. Cash Card:
As of January 2019, sixteen financial institutions were engaged in issuing cash cards in Taiwan. Total number of effective cash cards was 0.38 million (0.38 million at the end of December 2018). Total balance of cash card loans (including non-accrual amounts) was NT$17.1 billion (NT$17.4 billion at the end of December 2018). The amount of monthly write-off was approximately NT$0.03 billion (NT$0.03 billion for December 2018). The overall delinquency ratio was up from 0.885% of December 2018 to 0.914% (Please see Attachment 2).
3. Electronic Stored Value Card:
As of January 2019, four specialized electronic stored value card institutions and one commercial bank are engaging in electronic stored value card business in Taiwan. The number of effective cards totaled 109.62 million (108.32 million at the end of December 2018). The number of cards in using was 15.13 million (15.58 million at the end of December 2018). The amount of monthly retail sales was approximately NT$7.32 billion (NT$7.71 billion at the end of December 2018). The balance of stored value was NT$9.26 billion (NT$9.14 billion at the end of December 2018) (Please see Attachment 3).
4. Electronic Payment Institutions Business:
As of January 2019, there are five specialized electronic payment institutions and twenty-one electronic payment institutions concurrently-engaged in other businesses (included dual-status banks, Chunghwa Post Co, Ltd, and electronic stored value cards issuers). The number of users totaled 4.48 million that increased by 0.19 million as compared to last month (4.29 million at the end of December 2018). The amount of funds collected & paid as an agent for real transactions was 3.15 billion (3.03 billion at the end of December 2018). The amount of funds for transfer between e-payment accounts was 0.36 billion (0.28 billion at the end of December 2018). The amount of stored value funds was 0.88 billion (0.73 billion at the end of December 2018). The balance of the e-payment accounts in the e-payment institutions totaled 0.82 billion (0.85 billion at the end of December 2018)(Please see Attachment 4).
