FSC authorizes new regulatory sandbox experiment—Robo Advisor service for implementing financial inclusion

2021-04-12
The FSC on 26 February 2021 approved a joint application by ALPHA Robo-Advisor and SinoPac Securities to begin a "Robo Advisor service for implementing financial inclusion" experiment in the regulatory sandbox for one year.
ALPHA Robo-Advisor and SinoPac Securities submitted their application on November 12, 2020, and are the first team that has received approval to take part in the sandbox experiment in 2021. In the past, because of the high investment thresholds that financial institutions set for wealth management and sub-brokerage services, as well as the difficulty of obtaining information about overseas securities, it has been relatively hard for ordinary investors to make their own investment plans or determine asset allocations on their own. In order to provide the public with affordable, high-quality financial services, ALPHA Robo-Advisor and SinoPac Securities have collaborated to launch this experiment. ALPHA Robo-Advisor will use an automated system to provide investment advice based on the risk tolerance of individual investors, so that customers can adopt a systematic investment plan and use the linked API to buy foreign ETFs in regular amounts and at regular intervals through SinoPac Securities. With this service, members of the public can benefit from professional investment advice. The idea is to enable investors to allocate their assets worldwide and accumulate wealth with this assistance, thus achieving the goal of financial inclusion.
